About This Initiative

MMPI is committed to finding the best ways to support Montessori communities in becomming more inclusive-especially when it comes to children with complex needs. The reality is that Montessori training in the USA and in most of the world, is focused on training teachers to teach children who fall within the broad spectrum of “typical” development. This leaves teachers unprepared to meet the needs children whose development is not unfolding in the expected manner.

Montessori Therapy (MT) offers a solution to this challenge. Montessori trained teachers are taught the basics of developmental medicine and developmental psychology as well as strategies and methods for adaptation and modification of Montessori materials of development and presentations, to meet the individual needs of those who diverge from expected developmental norms.

DONATE

Montessori therapy training has, until now, been unavailable in the US and other English-speaking areas, due to an absence of training opportunities for English speakers. This initiative is supporting the first group of  14 English speaking Montessori teachers to attend the MT training in German with interpretation into English for the entire course.

This page is designed to provide you with more information so you can determine if this is an initiative you could support. The ultimate goal is to find ways to make it possible for more English speakers to learn to be MT practitioners and to implement MT programs at schools across the USA and in English language schools around the globe in the near future. If you think you might want to be a Montessori Therapist, please consider donating to this initiative to help us shoulder the cost of making it a reality that this remarkable work becomes available to English speakers.
