Cultivate Culturally Relevant OT Practice in Ghana

We will be discussing experiences connecting and collaborating with parents, which was the topic of our last meeting, 4-25-2926. If you were not able to attend that presentation, you can find a recording of it on our Resources page.

We meet on the 3rd or 4th Saturday of each month for 1.5-2 hours, from 4 -5:30 pm GMT. Each meeting is different, but sometimes we begin with a presentation, followed by an open question and answer session. Some sessions are open for collaboration and discussion among participants, sometimes with a topic to focus the discussion. You can share something you are working on or that might be helpful to others; you could present a case and ask for input about how to address a particular difficulty; you could ask a specific question, etc.

There is no charge to be a member of the CoP.

So many people and organizations have been and are working to grow and develop this CoP.  You can see the organizations listed below.  Collaborative work in developmental medicine is the best possible way to approach supporting children with unique needs.

 

Barbara and Ann first connected via email in late 2022. It was amazing to finally meet one another in person April 4, 2025. The visit was really great and way too short!

Here we are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA where the American OT Association was holding their annual conference. What a gift to get to meet there and share a meal!

The Mind Bridge Spectracare Lbg

Serving children with learning and developmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), utilizing the principles of ABA and other practices. Offering assessments and intervention, school and community support, parent/caregiver training, behavior training and consultancy services. Collaborating with other professionals to ensure the holistic growth of our clients.

Multikids Inclusive Academy

Ensuring that every child is engaged in an accessible and challenging teaching and learning environment with a team of skilled and committed teachers and therapists. Over ten years, Multikids has evolved an ecology where each child is at the center- small classes and a happy, safe, and supportive school environment.

Occupational Therapy Association of Ghana

Advancing the occupational therapy profession and OT practitioners throughout Ghana. The association supports pre-registration courses, provides professional development and continuing education opportunities, and helps keep members professionally connected to peers. OTAG follows legislative and financial issues that affect the profession and promotes the  recognition of OTs for their work in Ghana.

Sena Pediatric Therapy Foundation

An early intervention center and foundation offering education and therapy services to children with developmental challenges and disabilities to ensure they live more functional lives.

Providing speech therapy, occupational therapy, special education, physical therapy and behavioral therapy services in Ghana.
