Meet Dalia Avello-Vega

Dalia has worked for over 15 years in private, public and non-profit organizations in the areas of research and organizational development. Trained as a Psychologist, she has postgraduate degrees in Education and International Development from University College London and Mental Health Research from the University of Stirling in Scotland, as well as professional specializations in child and adolescent mental health from UC Berkeley, and project management from Shanghai Jiao-Tong University in China. In 2015 she completed the AMI Primary training program. In 2020 she received the Infant Mental Health Endorsement® certification for policy at the mentor level. 

 She has dedicated the last 12 years of her career to Infancy and Early Childhood, with a specific focus on adversity and mental health policy. Dalia has led projects in the areas of advocacy, professional development, inclusion and social justice, and regularly collaborates in projects with teams in different regions of the world including the advisory council to the International Dyslexia Association, Oregon chapter, Health Bridges International’s Center of Excellence currently under development in Peru, and a Pfizer funded project led by faculty at Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. She is a lecturer for the Infant Toddler Mental Program at Portland State University and an official trainer for the Ages and Stages Questionnaires with Brookes Publishing. Her current work uses longitudinal data to look at the influence of significant adults and peers in the lives of children. 

Important Course Information:

  • Technical: Participants must have a device with an internet connection, a webcam for video capability, and audio input/output capabilities. For computers, you will need a current browser and up to date software system (Apple OS X/Ventura or Microsoft Windows 10/11), security software (antivirus protection/firewall).
  • Virtual Classroom: Participants need to have a working email address where they can receive instruction and links to sign in to the Canvas classroom space.
  • Attendance: Participants must attend or make up all sessions to get a Certificate of Completion.
  • Class materials and access codes are for class participants only.

  • Course Certificate:  At the conclusion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion from Montessori Medical Partnership for Inclusion, if you attended both sessions in full.
  • CEUs: If you attend both sessions in full, you may opt to request CEUs for a fee of $25 through Loyola University of Maryland. More information will be available in the classroom.
  • Note:  Taping of the sessions by individual participants is strictly prohibited.
